Abstract

  • In March 2021, out of 90 municipalities on national CPI monitoring, 58 municipalities experienced inflation and 32 other municipalities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Jayapura at 1.07 percent and the lowest occurred in Tangerang and Banjarmasin at 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Bau-Bau at -0.99 percent and the lowest at -0.01 percent occurred in Palopo.
  • In the Province of Kalimantan Timur (Combined Samarinda Municipality and Balikpapan Municipality) in March 2021 there was an inflation of 0.20 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 0.53 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 0.74 percent.
  • In March 2021, inflation for Samarinda Municipality was 0.24 percent and Balikpapan Municipality was 0.16 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to price increases as indicated by increases in several indexes for the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group by 1.10 percent; followed by the recreation, sports and culture group by 0.32 percent; the health group by 0.15 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group by 0.09 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group by 0.04 percent; and the housing, water, household fuel electricity group of 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decrease in index were the clothing and footwear group by -0.59 percent; followed by the personal care and other services group by -0.58 percent; the transportation group of -0.39 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group of -0.03 percent. For the education group in March 2021, the index did not change compared to the previous month.
