  • In June 2021, of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Singkawang at 1.36 percent and the lowest at 0.01 percent occurred in Pekanbaru and Tanjung Selor. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Kupang at -0.89 percent and the lowest at -0.01 percent occurred in Palembang.
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Samarinda City and Balikpapan City Combined) in June 2021 saw inflation of 0.36 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 1.29 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.21 percent.
  • In June 2021, inflation for Samarinda City was 0.28 percent and in Balikpapan City was 0.47 percent.
  • Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco by 1.12 percent; followed by personal care and other services by 0.92 percent; information, communication, and financial services group by 0.52 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.35 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group by 0.32 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups were 0.16 percent and the health group was 0.06 percent. The groups that experienced a decline in the index were the transportation group by -0.77 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by -0.25 percent; and clothing and footwear group by -0.20 percent. Meanwhile, the education group tends to be stable compared to the previous month.
