Abstract

  • In September 2021, of the 90 cities monitored by the national CPI, 34 cities experienced inflation and 56 other cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Pangkal Pinang at 0.60 percent and the lowest at 0.01 percent occurred in Surakarta. Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Gorontalo at -0.90 percent and the lowest at -0.01 percent occurred in Palu. 
  • Kalimantan Timur Province (Combination of Samarinda City and Balikpapan City) in September 2021 saw inflation of 0.14 percent with a calendar year inflation rate of 1.24 percent and a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.68 percent. 
  • In September 2021, there was inflation for Samarinda City of 0.12 percent and in Balikpapan City there was also inflation of 0.19 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in several indexes of expenditure groups, namely: clothing and footwear by 0.87 percent; followed by food, beverage, and tobacco groups by 0.50 percent; household equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance group by 0.15 percent; then personal care and other services group by 0.13 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups by 0.10 percent each; housing, water, electricity and household fuel groups by 0.04 percent; health group by 0.03 percent; and the education group by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that showed a decline were the information, communication, and financial services group by -0.14 percent; and the transportation group by -0.32 percent. The food and beverage/restaurant supply group tended to be stable compared to the previous month.
